About the Program
This fee paying course gives participants the opportunity to work with professional ASC staff, including directors, musical director, choreographer and actors over a 12-week period as a full scale production of a work of Shakespeare is rehearsed and actors are coached in Shakespeare techniques and acting methodologies. After completing a Melbourne season of 3 performances at the iconic Athenaeum theatre, the production embarks on a regional tour throughout Victoria.
In 2016, the Graduate Players Ensemble performed a musical version of Much Ado About Nothing at Na Pradle theatre, Prague. Since then we have been invited to perform as part of the Prague Fringe Festival with Twelfth Night Reimagined in 2017, The Comedy of Errors in 2018, Much Ado About Beatrice and Benedick in 2019, Love’s Labour’s Lost in 2023, Twelfth Night in 2024, AMN Dream in 2025 and Romeo and Juliet in 2026. The productions met with critical acclaim amongst the festival reviewers.
For Graduate Players 2027 we will be presenting William Shakespeare’s As You Like It. The production will open in Melbourne with a season at the iconic Athenaeum Theatre before touring to regional Victoria, and then embarking to the Czech Republic to perform at the Prague Fringe Festival. The program includes optional cultural touring following the Festival performances.
