Sidra Nissen
Sidra is a 2025 Graduate Scholar with Opera Scholars Australia and a Bachelor of Music graduate (2023) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In 2025, Sidra has enjoyed an outstanding year of achievements. She was awarded the prestigious Marianne Mathy Scholarship at the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition and, just weeks earlier, won first place in the Opera Scholars Australia Aria Competition finals. Sidra made her Melbourne Opera debut as Dorabella in Così fan tutte in October. Her accolades also include runner-up in the Warrnambool Eisteddfod (2025), as well as the Robert Salzer Foundation Scholarship and the Ian Field Memorial Award at the National Liederfest competition (2023). In the same year, she also received first prizes in both the Janet Perkins Vocal Scholarship and the Margaret Sutherland Bursary. Sidra’s stage experience includes performances with Victorian Opera in Il Mago di Oz (2021), Cheremushki. (2022) and currently Pirates of Penzance.
