JANUARY SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

Monday 2 to Saturday 7 January: Shakespeare Mosh Pit 1.0 for ages 9 to 13
Monday 16 to Saturday 21 January: Shakespeare Mosh Pit 2.0 for ages 13 to 16

Venue: Athenaeum Theatre Two, upstairs at 188 Collins Street, Melbourne
Course cost: $350 incl GST per course
Maximum intake: limited to 20 participants per course on a first come first served basis
How to enrol: complete an online enrolment form via the links below then pay the course fee. Enrolment will then be confirmed by email.
General requirements: No previous drama classes or Shakespeare experience is necessary. Participants should be enthusiastic, have confidence in public speaking and be comfortable working in small groups. No preparation in advance of the course is required. Course tutors are professional actors from the Australian Shakespeare Company ensemble with backgrounds in teaching.

JANUARY COURSES TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

Shakespeare Mosh Pit 1.0 for ages 9 to 13
Monday 2 to Saturday 7 January, 10am to 4pm
Participants aged 9 to 13 years go on an imaginative one week journey through some of Shakespeare’s most fun and celebrated plays. Through drama games, story-telling, improvisation, script writing, movement and song, participants will develop skills in acting, writing, communication, interpretation and self evaluation. Young Bards will have the opportunity to experience Shakespeare’s language, interpret characters and recreate the stories in their own words. Following the Victorian Essential Learning Standards for Primary and Early Secondary students, this week of classes provides a memorable and upbeat introduction to Shakespeare.

Shakespeare Mosh Pit 2.0 for ages 13 to 16
Monday 16 to Saturday 21 January, 10am to 4pm
Shakespeare’s characters have never been so exposed! Participants aged 13 to 16 spend a fun and active week exploring ways to create dynamic characters. They’ll learn an array of physical, vocal, sensory and text based methods of character creation, aiming to further develop their appreciation of theatre and Shakespeare. Exploring the stories and characters journeys from four of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, Australian Shakespeare Company actors, directors and choreographers will guide voice, movement and dance skills and approaches to realise Shakespeare’s exquisite language. A short performance at the end of the week will showcase to parents and friends an ensemble of richly developed, colourful and modern Shakespeare characters.

JANUARY COURSES TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. By completing an Enrolment Form and paying the course fee you are indicating your acceptance of these terms and conditions.

2. Enrolment requires course fee payment via our website and a complete Enrolment Form. Without both the participant will not be enrolled. Enrolment will be confirmed by email.

3. Places in the course will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

4. No enrolments will be accepted on the first day of class. All participants must be enrolled in advance.

5. The Australian Shakespeare Company reserves the right to deny enrolment or ask an enrolled participant to leave a course. This will be the last option in a line of disciplinary action as set out in our Disciplinary Procedure.

6. Once an enrolment is confirmed, no refund is payable should you change your mind.

7. Should part or all of the course be cancelled by the Australian Shakespeare Company a credit note will be offered in the place of the cancelled course. Where only part of the course is cancelled the credit note amount will be pro-rata.

8. The Australian Shakespeare Company does not accept any responsibility for participants’ personal property during the course.

9. The Australian Shakespeare Company does not accept liability for any personal injury incurred during the normal conduct of the course.

10. The Australian Shakespeare Company reserves the right to make photographic and/or visual recordings during the course for inclusion in our archives and for use in the Australian Shakespeare Company marketing materials.

11. Audio and/or visual recording of any kind by participants is not permitted unless otherwise advised.

12. Any personal information provided will be collected, used and stored solely in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
