11 to 23 June 2018 – Athenaeum Theatre 2
Professor Higgins bets he can transform the life of a flower girl by helping her learn to speak proper English rather than her cockney dialect. Witness the transformation of Eliza Doolittle. An insanely witty play that has the problem of our “common” English language at its heart. A razor-sharp exploration of social and gender inequality, transformation and the awakening of self-respect that remains relevant over one hundred years since the play’s first performance.
Dates TBC – Athenaeum Theatre 2
The Australian Shakespeare Company unleashes a visceral new production of Shakespeare’s darkest and most streamlined tragedy. Thrilling use of projection and the interplay of light and shade conjure the play’s supernatural tones and evoke the environment of this psychological thriller.
Additional Staff Members:
1 complimentary ticket is provided for every 10 students attending the performance. If additional adults wish to attend, they will require a full price adult ticket.
Is the language appropriate for school groups?
This show has been designed with students in mind and all content is appropriate for school groups. There is nothing ruder than an Andy Griffiths book.
When will I have access to a Teacher’s Kit and Script:
Once you have made your online application, a team member will be in touch within 1 business day and send you an invoice as well as access to the Teacher’s Kit and updated script.
What if our booking numbers change- will we be able to get a refund?:
Unfortunately, refunds cannot be made once final payment is received. However, prior to payment going through, we are able to send updated invoices.
Will we be able to ask questions of the performers and creative team?
You can submit questions to our artistic team via email. (firstname.lastname@example.org). As our team has a very busy schedule, we are not able to always get your questions answered.
What happens if it rains? (OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES)
Generally, performances go ahead in light to moderate rain. Performances are only cancelled if it is unsafe for the performance to proceed, and when school groups are present we do factor this into our decision making and try to push on with the show wherever possible. For school groups, we can arrange an exchange of tickets or a full refund if a show is cancelled.
“Shakespeare under the Stars” is an incredible experience for Drama and Theatre Studies students as it is so immersive with the actors constantly interreacting with the audience. Taking them to see how theatre can be produced outside of the traditional theatre setting opens their minds to endless creative possibilities for their own stagecraft exploration. The Australian Shakespeare Company always makes Shakespeare fun and accessible to our students and is always such a great night out.
